My Bug List

Sean's Bug List
  1. During exam time, the quantity of students in the UF libraries is so large that I end up wasting 30 minutes roaming to find a seat.
    • Why? The reason why this happens is because UF does not have enough study spaces to benefit the entire student body during big exam weeks.
  2. During the winter time, my skin gets very dry and my lips get chapped.
    • Why? The reason why this happens is because my body does not sweat enough in the cold, and the sweat is what keeps my skin moist and hydrated.
  3. It bugs me when I'm trying to show my friends a funny YouTube video, and then a 30-second ad decides to play before the video.
    • Why? This happens because YouTube, along with the video creator need to make money. Ads are one of the avenues for them to make money off of their videos.
  4. It bugs me when my roommates get out of the shower before drying off, causing them to drip water all over the bathroom floor.
    • This happens because they decide to put their towels out of arm's reach from the shower.  If they put their towels close, they could dry off while standing in the shower.
  5. It bugs me when the McDonald's worker tells me that their ice cream machine is broken every single time that I want ice cream.
    • This happens because either too many people ordered ice cream before me, or the workers do not know the proper maintenance skills for the job.
  6. It bugs me when I'm trying to tell a story to my friends that I believe is really interesting and fun, but then another person butts in and either degrades or one-ups my story.
    • This usually happens because that person who butts in is someone who usually likes to be the center of attention, or they like to feel in charge.
  7. It bugs me when the lines for every bar at midtown are packed during the weekends.
    • This happens because nobody has class the next day, and because many bars have special deals on the weekends.
  8. It bugs me when I randomly wake up 10 minutes before my alarm is actually set to go off in the morning.
    • This happens to me because I tend to worry about oversleeping, and as soon as my body has any sense of a need to wake up, it does so.
  9. It bugs me when I come out of class to go to the dining hall during lunch, and they aren't serving any food that I like.
    • This happens because my expectations of the dining halls are too high, as I cannot expect them to prepare five star meals every day.
  10. It bugs me when the RTS buses are full when I need them to get to class on time in the mornings.
    • This happens because many workers bus into campus in the morning.  It is not just students who use the buses.
  11. It bugs me when I show up to the gym for my usual weekly routine, and it's the first week back to school after New Year's, meaning the entire gym is jam packed.
    • This happens because everybody decides that they now want to be healthier for their New Year' resolutions.
  12. It bugs me when my mom is in the passenger seat of the car and constantly tries to tell me how to drive.
    • This happens because my mom dislikes most things that don't go the way she expects them to go.  She wants it to be her way.
  13. It bugs me when there is a long line to get gas, and the person who just finished pumping gas then decides to go inside to make a purchase while leaving their car in front of the pump.
    • This happens because people are too lazy to get back in their car to go park in an actual parking spot.
  14. It bugs me when people don't clear out the remaining time from their microwaving of food, and then I have to clear it out for them before I can use it.
    • This happens because people are again too lazy to press one extra button before taking their food out and leaving.
  15. It bugs me when I get a cold right before or on the day of a big exam.
    • This happens because I am too busy studying, and not getting enough sleep, resulting in my immune system to weaken, making it easier for me to get sick.
  16. It bugs me when the person next to me in Church spreads their legs too wide while sitting in the pew, giving me little to no leg room.
    • This happens because the church can get hot sometimes, and the person next to me isn't really thinking of me as much as they are their self.
  17. It bugs me when somebody flushes the toilet while I am in the middle of a shower, resulting in me being scorched by boiling hot water.
    • This happens because the toilet only uses cold water, so all of the heated water from the water heater keeps going to the shower, but it doesn't use pump any cold water on you for that short period of time during the flush.
  18. It bugs me when I try to do a school assignment in 30 minutes, but then I receive a C on the assignment.
    • This happens because I am more concerned about completing the assignment, and less concerned about following the directions and getting my answers correct.
  19. It bugs me when I put in a long night of studying, but then when it's time to go to bed I can't fall asleep.
    • This happens because the human brain wants to stay active for a few hours even after it has finished studying activities.
  20. It bugs me when I'm at a sit down restaurant and people don't tip their servers well.
    • This happens because I am in a college town where many students are functioning on a small budget, so they see tips more as optional rather than something that the server needs to make decent money.
Reflection:  I found this assignment very difficult.  I am not a person who gets bothered by many things, so it actually took me a long time to think of 20 things that bug me in life.  Another challenge was answering why these things happen.  There was definitely a common theme that other people's laziness causes these things to happen.

  1. Hey Sean, I agree with a lot of the things on your list. These things that bug you I also can relate to being frustrated by them as well. It was definitely hard to find a list of things that bug people this much because I feel when people look at life and try to find things that bug them, they do not look at things positively and are angry a lot of the time.
