How To Fail At Almost Everything And Still Win Big

  1. One general theme that I got from this book is that you need to be willing to take risks in the areas that make the most sense for YOU.  Even if you are involved in a high pressure situation, as long as it is something that you see yourself to be good at, you have a high chance of succeeding.  An example of this in my life is that I do not necessarily feel comfortable dealing with large amounts of money, but I know that I am good at managing it.  Because of this, I was my fraternity's Treasurer because I knew I would do well, even though I would get nervous at times.
  2. One of the ways that this book was able to connect with my ENT3003 experiences was that I manage my energy in this class, just as the book states we should.  One of the most efficient ways that I save energy in this class is that when I sit down to brainstorm ideas for my product, I specifically set time aside to do so.  I do not want to waste anytime due to distractions, so that is how I conserve my energy in the most efficient way.
  3. If I could create a class exercise pertaining to this book, I would create it in order to teach the class how to find their inner risk that they are secretly good at.  I cannot emphasize enough how important this is, because if you can capitalize on something that other people aren't able to, that will you set you apart from any possible competition.
  4. The biggest surprise for me was my realization that I thrived as Treasurer because I took a risk that it turned out I was skilled at.  From now on I am going to continue to seek out more risks, and channel them in my everyday life in order to turn myself into the best person I can be.

  1. Hi Sean,
Similar to you, I also decided to read the same book for this assignment. You first point is something that really made me think because it seems that it can be difficult to get people to take risks. I think that you provided an excellent example of a risk that you are taking that best fits you because I know that your responsibility as Treasurer is not exactly the type of risk that I find myself comfortable taking. I also had the same premise for your class example to better understand the concepts in this book!
